Wilmington City Councilperson Katherine Moore recently culminated a long-standing feud with the local police department in an ugly confrontation with an officer who was attempting to ticket her daughter for a traffic violation. The publicity the case has received has resulted in hundreds of hookworm-infested, pellagra victim toddlers in trailer parks throughout the region learning racist epithets three to six months earlier than they otherwise would have, because whether Katherine Moore is right or wrong, whether she is guilty of a small infraction, a large one or none at all, this sort of thing has brought a number of extremists out of the woodwork and gutters who are more wrong congenitally than Ms. Moore could be if she stayed up late planning it every night for a month.
Of course, that's just my subjective opinion. Seeking a more enlightened viewpoint, I asked Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards what he thought about the Katherine Moore situation and caught his lucid response on tape. Here it is.
